Welcome to your Introduction to Canvas for Students at South Seattle College (SSC)!

To help you become familiar with and learn how to navigate within Canvas first self-enroll in this this orientation course by clicking the +Join this Course button (located top-right on this page).

All South instructors, regardless of whether the class is face-to-face, hybrid, or fully online, use Canvas to distribute course resources, collect student work, supplement cancelled or missed classes with online materials, and more. Learning how to use Canvas to participate in your classes will be vital to your success at South Seattle College.

We expect this course to take between 1-2 hours to successfully complete. We ask that you use the most up-to-date version of the Chrome, Firefox, or Safari web browsers, and that you complete this course from a desktop or laptop computer as much of the content will not work properly on phones or tablets, and students regularly experience problems with Internet Explorer and Edge browsers. Students using a screenreader should use Mozilla Firefox and either JAWS or NVDA if PC, or VoiceOver and Safari for Mac users.

Use Canvas to upload submit coursework
Locate academic and technical support resources across campus and online

To help in the completion of this activity, you should…

To ensure you don't lose work, it is recommended that you use your computer's simple text editor (Notepad on a PC and TextEdit on a Mac), or a word processing application such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs to produce and edit your work. Then, when ready to share, you copy/paste the text you've produced into Canvas assignments, as necessary.
